Sisters’ Sticky Rice Baozi

Sisters’ Sticky Rice Baozi is another famous snack from Changsha. In early the 1920s, the Jiang sisters were selling sticky rice baozi at Huogongdian Market. Their sticky rice baozi were delicious and appealing, thus they were called the sisters’ sticky rice baozi.

Sisters’ Sticky Rice Baozi is made of sticky rice flour with two different types of stuffing, sugar stuffing and meat stuffing. The sugar stuffing uses a mixture of sugar from Beiliu (in Guangxi Province), osmanthus sugar, and dates. The meat stuffing is made of pork belly with mushrooms, and the water used for soaking the mushrooms is used to mix the stuffing, making the stuffing even tastier. The sugar stuffing uses a mixture of sugar from Beiliu (in Guangxi Province), osmanthus sugar, and dates. The sticky rice baozi with meat stuffing are shaped like pomegranates while the ones with sugar stuffing are like peaches. From outside, they’re white and transparent, small, and exquisite. The sticky rice baozi with meat stuffing are soft and tasty.
