Hand-grasping Mutton (Shouzhua Yangrou)

"Hand-grasped Mutton" is a unique and special way to eat in Qinghai, and is one of the indispensable staple foods for locals. It is often served to guests because of its great reputation.

When you first eat Hand-grasped Mutton, you’ll discover you can’t get enough of it, and the taste will stay with you for a long time. The dish is closely linked with the nomadic life of the Tibetan people who settle where there is water and grass. One hand is used to grasp the meat, and the other hand holds a knife to cut, dig, scrape and slice, to remove all the flesh from the sheep's bones. Hand-grasped Mutton has a history of almost 1,000 years and has been classified as one of the famous dishes in Qinghai.
