Mount Putuo

Mount Putuo, located in the Lianhua Ocean in the east of Hangzhou Bay, Zhejiang Province, is surrounded by water. The golden sand, white waves, fishing boats, green hills, and a number of ancient temples and viharas constitute a series of gorgeous and colorful images.

Mount Putuo’s famous attractions include Chaoyin Cave, Fanyin Cave, Chaoyang Cave, Pantuo Rock, Ergui Tingfa Rock, Hundred-Step Beach, Thousand-Step Beach, Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, Huiji Temple, Avalokitesvara of the South Sea, and Mahayana Nunnery. The scenic area boasts convenient internal and external transportation as well as a favorable tourist environment. On the 19th day of the 2nd lunar month, the 6th lunar month, and the 9th lunar month, domestic and international tourists come in large crowds to pay tribute to Avalokitesvara (Guanyin or the Goddess of Mercy). Mount Putuo has become a tourist destination famous all over the world for being magical, sacred, and mysterious.
