Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall

The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall which has been Beijing's military strategic pass since the ancient times and is known as the “Impregnable Pass on a Towering Ridge” is located in Huairou District, Beijing. The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall has a unique construction style which is rarely seen on Great Walls, especially its three watchtowers that lie connected to one another on a single terrace.

The 5,400m Mutianyu section is the longest section of the Great Wall. There is a first-class cable car for visitors to ascend as well as activities such as the Fancy Stone Display and a single-rider slipway. All this makes the Mutianyu section a dynamic mixture of the Great Wall culture, stone culture, sport and entertainment. Mutianyu has been visited by many foreign heads of state such as the former UK Prime Minister John Major and US President Bill Clinton.
