The Solitary Beauty Peak and the Jingjiang Prince City

The Solitary Beauty Peak and the Jingjiang Prince City, located in Xing’an County in Guilin, consists of Solitary Beauty Peak and the Jingjiang Prince City. Jingjiang Prince City is a splendid, large-scale architectural complex that used to be the palace of the longest lasting Ming Dynasty Prince. Solitary Beauty Peak lies behind Jingjiang Prince City.

The city was built when Zhu Shouqian, Grandnephew of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, was granted the title of Prince of Jingjiang. It is the best preserved Ming Dynasty prince’s palace in China and the one with the longest history. It was constructed to the standards of the palace of a prince. The layout of the palace strictly follows the rules of symmetry on an axis, with the ancestral temple to the left and altar of land and grain to the right, court in front and residence at the back. Along the axis, Chengyun Gate lays in front, Chengyun Hall in the middle, then there are the residence chambers, and finally the imperial garden. The ancestral temple is to the left and the altar of land grain is to the right. On both sides of the main architecture, there are a lot of halls and buildings, studies and pavilions. All the architecture has sloped roofs with nine ridges as well as red walls and green tiles.

Solitary Beauty Peak is situated in Jingjiang Prince City as an inseparable part of the scenic area. It is called “the Pillar in the South” and was historically regarded as the first peak in Guilin.
