Anyang Yinxu (Yin ruins of An Yang city)

Located around Xiaotun Village in Yindu District, Anyang, Henan Province, China, Anyang Yinxu is the ruins of the later Shang Dynasty capital and has been verified as the first capital in Chinese history. Its discovery and evacuation has been hailed as the most important of the "100 major ancient discoveries" of the 20th century in China.

The Yinxu emperor's ruins, remains of palaces and temples, Huanbei site and other ruins comprise this vast and magnificent ruin at Yinxu that can be generally divided into a palace complex, royal tombs, ordinary tombs, handicraft workshops, residential area and slave's residential area.

Within Yinxu a large quantity of bronze wares, stone artifacts, bone artifacts, jade artifacts and so on, representing rare cultural relics that are of great historical value. Of these, the most famous is the Houmuwu ding that weighs 875 kilograms and is the largest and heaviest item of bronze ware ever discovered in the world.
