“Beautiful China” Promoted in Cambodia
On the evening of July 12, the “Beautiful China” tourism promotion event was staged at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, attracting a full crowd of 300. Among the audience was Zhang Xilong, counselor of CNTA Tourism Promotion and International Cooperation Department, Thong Khon, minister of tourism of Cambodia, chargé d'affaires Tan Qingsheng from Chinese embassy, Cambodian vice minister of commerce, president Chhay Sivlin of Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, and minister-counselor from the Cambodian embassy in China as well as representatives of the Cambodian outbound travel association, tour operators, airline companies, and mainstream media outlets. Before that, business talks were held for tourism professionals from both countries.
This year marks the China-ASEAN Tourism Cooperation Year and CNTA has launched marketing activities in five ASEAN countries successively. Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia are major tourist sources for China and deserve more intensive marketing efforts. Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos are emerging markets with potential for rapid growth. The marketing tour in ASEAN countries will not only help build up the image of China as an international destination in ASEAN countries, especially in local emerging tourist sources, and export China’s tourism culture under the Belt and Road Initiative, but also explore the emerging tourism market in ASEAN, and expand the scale and improve the quality of China-ASEAN tourism exchange.
