Tea-picking Culture and Tourism Festival Was Held in Taoxi Town, Wuping County

From Longyan on, on April 21, 2018 “Xinbao Tea Industry Cup” Tea-picking Culture and Tourism Festival with the theme of “Enjoy the Oxygen in Wuping with Tea and Beautiful Scenery” was held in Taoxi Town, Wuping County, the “Hometown of Quality Tea” in Fujian Province. After the speech by party secretary of Taoxi Town, Wuping County Tourism Bureau announced the opening of this festival. Later, a series of colorful activities, including display of Taoxi green tea brand building achievements and tea product promotion, Taoxi tourism promotion, visitors tasting the new tea picked before Qingming Festival and experiencing tea picking and making, art show featuring the combination of tea culture and Chinese culture, calligraphy & painting exhibition by local calligraphers and painters, were carried out. More than 300 representatives of tea companies and tea farmers and self-driving tourists participated in this festival.


To thoroughly implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and based on the local industries, Taoxi Town held this festival, which is a major measure to promote the expansion of the modern tea industry chain and facilitate the revitalization of rural areas by means of developing tourism with tea industry and advancing tea industry with tourism. Through diversified channels such as tea events and tourism festivals, Taoxi Town will drive the integrated development of tea industry and tourism, and increase tea farmers’ income.


According to statistics, Taoxi Town, as one of the major green tea producing areas in Fujian Province, has 25,000 mu (1666.6666667 hectares) of ecological tea gardens, of which nearly 20,000 mu (1333.3333333 hectares) of tea gardens are available for picking, with more than 2,000 tons of output and a value of about RMB 200 million. In 2009, the landmark trademark of “Wuping Green Tea” was successfully registered. In 2013, it was identified as China’s well-known trademark. In 2017, it was on the list of China's top ten public green tea brands, becoming famous at home and abroad. Now, tea products of Taoxi Town are sold on domestic markets including Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Anhui and overseas markets such as France, the United States, Singapore and Malaysia.
