Weihai, Shandong Province is titled as one of the“First Batch of National Forest Tourism Demonstration Cities”

On September 25, 2017, the 2017 China Forest Tourism Festival was opened at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. The Forest Tourism Festival this year is themed as “Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets — walk into the forest, make urban life wonderful”. On the opening ceremony, Weihai, Shandong Province was titled as one of the “First Batch of National Forest Tourism Demonstration Cities” while Panlongshan Forest Park in Ningyang County was approved to be the newly constructed National Forest Park in 2016.
The Shandong Pavilion constructed by Shandong Province displays features of 20 national forest parks and wetland parks such as Mount Tai, Culai Mountain, Mount Meng, Mount Lao, Kunyu Mountain, Mount Lu, Yangtian Mountain, Weishan Lake, Baiyun Lake and Yellow River Estuary. Meanwhile, 50 types of forest ecological recreational products such as fruit wine, health care tea products, fruits and sand sculpture are also on display.
In recent years, forest tourism has become a new highlight of Shandong tourism while forestry industry has become a new economic growth engine. Till now, there are 246 forest parks in Shandong, among which there are 51 national forest parks and 65 provincial forest parks. The total area of forest parks is 6.525 million mu. In 2016, all forest parks in Shandong received 47.553 million visitors from China and abroad with a total income of 2.587 billion yuan, among which direct revenue of forest tourism reached 2.39 billion yuan.
It is learned that the 2017 China Forest Tourism Festival include opening ceremony, float parade, national forest tourism scenery display, national forest tourism product display, national ecological recreational product display, national forest tourism product promotion, national forest tourism investment and service conference & cooperation agreement signing ceremony and other events.
