China celebrates the National Tourism Day with a big gift package, enhancing people’s wellbeing through holistic tourism
On May 19, the 2017 National Tourism Day Publicity & the Conference on the Promotion of Tourism Investment and Financing in China, organized by CNTA and undertaken by cctv.com, was staged in Beijing. The endeavor was aimed to serve the strategic deployments of the central government for stabilizing growth, promoting reform and adjusting the structure, promote holistic tourism, deepen the supply-side structural reform of the tourism industry and comprehensively improve the quality and efficiency of tourism development.
At the conference, CNTA chairman Li Jinzao delivered a keynote speech and vice chairman Li Shihong released the Report on Tourism Investment in China 2016. Other guests invited to the conference included vice minister of finance Hu Jinglin, secretary general Deng Maicun of Chinese Academy of Sciences, head of China Tourism Association and Beijing Tourism Group Duan Qiang, president Zhang Xuewu of China Tourism Group, president Chang Zhenming of CITIC Group, general manager Jiang Yan of China Tourism Group, CCTV vice president Yuan Zhengming, president Hong Qi of China Minsheng Bank, and director Li Bing of SASAC Capital Operation and Revenue Management Bureau.
In his speech, Li noted: China is entering an era of mass tourism. Tourism is no longer a luxury for the few, but a daily commodity consumed by the most. The CPC Central Committee and the State Council highly value the development of holistic tourism, and the tourism industry has grown into a strategic pillar industry in the national economy. The tourism industry is listed as top of the “five happiness industries” for its role in improving people's wellbeing and health and creating a civilized society. Chinese president Xi Jinping has made instructions on tourism development and related work, which can help us understand the tourism industry.
Li also said: the CPC Central Committee and the State Council highly value holistic tourism and include it into this year’s government work report. At a new starting point, we shall uphold the five major concepts of development and actively implement the “three-step” strategy to advance the development of holistic tourism. We shall make full use of policy dividends, promote tourism investment and financing, and drive the sustainable development of the tourism industry; continue to launch the Toilet Revolution, and improve public services to benefit tourists and the general public; keep the tourism market in good order, punish uncivilized behaviors and create a favorable environment for civilized tourism; continue to reduce poverty and enrich people through tourism and contribute to the building of a moderately prosperous society; actively engage in tourism-based diplomacy, deepen international cooperation, and serve the Belt and Road Initiative with tourism connectivity. In addition, we shall follow the requirements of President Xi, vigorously develop holistic tourism, create a safer, more convenient travel environment and wonderful and memorable travel experience for Chinese and foreign tourists alike.
At the conference, tourist attractions announced their special offers to mark the National Tourism Day and a video was aired calling for safe and civilized travel. Also the favorite tourist destinations voted online were announced and the Report on Tourism Investment in China 2016 and the Preferred Tourism Projects of 2017 released. Meanwhile, the Chinese Tourism Industry Fund Management Company and the Shouqing Aolu Investment Management Co., Ltd. were unveiled, the preparations for the China Tourism Exchange Center initiated and awards granted to the Top 10 Tourism Technology Bases in China and winners of the 3rd China Award of Outstanding Contribution to the Tourism Industry (the Flying Horse Award).
Other conferees included senior officials from the General Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the General Administration of Sport, Tsinghua University, and financial institutions such as China Development Bank, the Export-Import Bank of China, Agricultural Development Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, China Merchants Bank, Industrial Bank of China and China Zheshang Bank, executives of major tourism companies including Guo’ao Group, senior officials from the Secretariat of China-Portugal Forum, heads of provincial, municipal tourism authorities, and executives of award winners.
