The Sacrifice Offering Ceremony at the Yellow Emperor’s Hometown is a ceremony conducted in commemoration of the Yellow Emperor at a location (in present-day Xinzheng City, a city that falls within the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province) which is long held to be the hometown of Emperor Yellow since the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Sacrifices Offering to the Yellow Emperor was made official during the Tang Dynasty. At present, the ceremony’s sponsors are the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the People’s Government of Henan Province, the Henan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, the Chinese Yan Huang Culture Research Association, the World Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations, the World Hakka Association (Hong Kong), the European Association for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China, and the Alliance for the Reunification of China (Taiwan). Its undertakers are the People’s Government of Zhengzhou City, the Zhengzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and the People’s Government of Xinzheng City. Some Taiwanese politicians participated in the ceremony on separate occasions, including Lien Chan and Wu Poh-hsiung, Honorary Chairman of the Kuomintang; Yok Mu-ming, Chairman of the New Party; and James Chu-yu Soong, Chairman of the People First Party. At the “Award Ceremony of the First Global Root Pro (Hakka) Cultural Event”, the Sacrifice Offering Ceremony at the Yellow Emperor’s Hometown was rated as one of the “World’s Top 10 Most Influential Root Seeking Cultural Events”.
