Xinzhou
Xinzhou of Shanxi Province is known as “key to the north of Shanxi” since ancient times. It is next to Datong and Shuozhou to the north, Taiyuan to the south, across the Yellow River from Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia to the west, and borders Hebei with Taihang Mountains to the east. Located in the middle north of Shanxi Province and covering an area of 25,472 km2 in total, Xinzhou governs 1 district, 13 counties (namely Xinfu District, Yuanping, Dingxiang, Wutai, Dai County, Fanzhi, Ningwu, Jingle, Shenchi, Wuzhai, Kelan, Hequ, Baode, and Pianguan counties), 185 towns, and 4,971 administrative villages.
