Weihai
Weihai is located in the easternmost end of Shandong Peninsula, surrounded by the Huanghai Sea in the north, east and south. It lies across to Liaodong Peninsula in the north, and respectively to the south and southeast of Korean Peninsula and Japanese Archipelago, and borders Yantai in the west. Weihai is among the 40 Cities with Excellent Investment Hard Environment of China, as well as the Top 50 Cities in respect of comprehensive economic strength. In 1984, it was listed among the first batch of coastal cities of China opening to the outside world, and in 1990, Weihai was rated as the first National Sanitary City. In 1996, the Ministry of Construction named it as the National Garden City. On October 13, 1997, the Ministry of Environmental Protection granted the title National Model City for Environmental Protection to Weihai. In January 1999, the city was listed among the first batch of excellent tourism city of China. On October 6, 2003, the UN granted the Habitat Scroll of Honor Award to Weihai. On May 7, 2009, the city was rated as a National Forest City.
