Urumqi
Urumqi (refer to “beautiful pasture in old Junggar Mongol”) is located in the middle and northern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northern foot of middle part of Tianshan Mountain, and southern rim of Junggar. The total area of the administrative region is 14200 km2. The total population of the city in 2010 is 2,620,000. Urumqi is the capital of Xinjiang (one of the five provincial national autonomous regions in China), the political, economic, and cultural center of Xinjiang, the important portal of Western China open to the world, the bridge tower of new Eurasia Land Bridge in Western China, and the important city in the middle part of Eurasia for its geographic location in the center of Asian land.
