Kashi Prefecture
Kashi Prefecture is located in the middle part of Eurasian Continent, northwest China, and southwest of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Kashi is the border city in the most western part of China. With its old name Shule, Kashi is one of the famous “Four Garrisons of Anxi” in history and is an old city with a history of more than 2000 years. Firstly founded in 1952, with a total area of 554.8 km2, Kashi governs 6 villages, 2 towns, 1 place, and 4 sub-district offices. The total population is 700,000 (including a floating population of 150,000). Minorities mainly consist of Uygur, accounting for 82.8% of the total population. With a strong national feature, it has a good reputation that people do not arrive in Xinjiang unless they arrive in Kashi.
