Tour Along Beijing-HK-Macao High-Speed Rail (Cultural Trip to Central Plains)
Beijing-HK-Macao High-Speed Rail connects eight core economic and cultural areas, namely, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Bohai Economic Rim, Urban Agglomeration in the Central Plains, Wuhan Metropolitan Circle, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan District, Guangzhou-Shenzhen City Agglomeration, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. The cities along the line have a high level in terms of economic development, and are concentrated, hence the huge tourism demands and large customer source market. As Beijing-HK-Macao High-Speed Rail is opened step by step and section by section, it will definitely promote communication and exchange between provinces and cities along the line, thus exerting a significant influence on tourism development of regions along the line, and bringing about important changes to these regions. Cultural and natural tourism resources along the line complement each other. Ranging from Imperial Palace of Beijing to Mulan Paddock, from Great Wall to Kung Fu Shaolin, from surging Yellow River to rolling Yangtze River, and from hometowns of great men to Pearl of the Orient, this tourism line features strong relevance of various tourism resources, and perfect combination and integration of travel routes.
Description of the Itinerary
Day 1: start fromBeijing. In the morning, watch flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square (the time of flag-raising ceremony may change based on sunrise time). Feel the world’s largest urban central square at Tiananmen Square. Have a look at Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, etc. The Palace Museum is just across the Changan Street, and you can visit and feel the culture and magnificence of royal dynasty in those days. Leave the Imperial Palace, take bus 609, and start to stroll the Nanluoguxiang to stroll around featured shops there and experience the product after perfect combination of fashion and old Beijing charm. Day 2: visit the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China - the Summer Palace. Climb the magnificent and grand Great Wall, which is the representation and manifestation of Chinese nation’s will and also an enduring miracle in human history. Go along Drum Tower and Shichahai, to get the Nanluoguxiang, listen to old Beijingers’ explanation of cultural connotations of lanes and courtyard dwellings, and experience traditional lifestyle in lanes. Take the high-speed rail to Shijiazhuang in the evening. Day 3: arrive in Shijiazhuang. After breakfast, take a bus to Baodu Zhai. Visit Nantianmen (Southern Heavenly Gate), the largest monumental archway on a mountain top in China; Five Hundred Arhats Hall, the first underground stone carving on a mountain top in China; the largest gold lacquer Hanxin Ancestral Temple decorated with frescoes in China; as well as other ancient complexes like bulwark of the Great Wall, Heaven Pool, Paradise Street, Baguajindan Palace, Hanxin Dianjiang Terrace, Tianmen Cave and Jinque Palace. After lunch, take a bus to Zhao County, to visit the ancestor of Chinese bridge - Zhaozhou Bridge, and a Chinese Buddhist temple - Bailin Temple. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Zhengzhou. Day 4: arrive in Zhengzhou. In the morning, go to the Yellow River Scenic Area, to appreciate the magnificent Yellow River; go to Yan-Huang Square, to see the colossal statutes of Emperor Yan and Emperor Huang; go to Kang Baiwan Manor, to see the residence of rich merchants of Kang Family and listen to stories how they became rich. In the afternoon, return to the downtown, and go to Henan Museum to explore human life in the Stone Age. In the evening, go to Erqi Square to see the landmark building - Erqi Memorial Tower, stroll around stores nearby the square, and feel the prosperity of busy streets Day 10: in the morning, set out from the downtown of Zhengzhou and go to the hometown of Emperor Huang, to trace the source of Chinese civilization. After lunch, take a bus to Dengfeng, and arrive at the gate of Songyang Academy, and visit academy which boasts a long history of over a thousand years and Songyue Pagoda. Walk along the scenic area to Shaolin Temple, to watch performance of Shaolin monks and enter the temple to visit audience halls and Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau. Then go to Forest of Dagobas, to meditate on the past and feel Zen spirit in pagodas of eminent monks. Climb the Mount Song, and go to Sanhuang Village Scenic Area, the main part of Shaoshi Mountain, to see steep mountains rising up one after another of Mount Song. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Xuchang. Day 5: arrive in Xuchang. In the morning, go to Mansion of Prime Minister Cao, the first theme scenic area showing the culture of Kindom in all aspects in China. It consists of such parts as gate, Qiuxian Hall and Qibu Pavilion. Tourists can learn about the life of Cao Cao and his sons and knowledge of the history of the Three Kingdoms. Not far from Mansion of Prime Minister Cao lie Chunqiu Building and Wenfeng Pagoda, which are also famous and representative scenic areas of culture of the Three Kingdoms in Xuchang. You can stroll in the Chunqiu Building to learn about the life of Guan Yu, and visit Wenfeng Pagoda to learn knowledge on architecture of Ming Dynasty and Buddhism. After getting out of Wenfeng Pagoda, take a bus to Baling Bridge where Guan Yu took the robe with sword and bid farewell to Cao Cao according to the legend. There is no any trace of the turbulent society in the history now, so tourists can only imagine while seeing those objects. Day 8: get early and go to the Jun Kiln Museum which is a little far as it is not located in the downtown of Xuchang; the museum’s display contents are divided into three parts - ancient, modern and traditional process, and tourists can learn about knowledge on Jun kiln culture and appreciate exquisite ceramic crafts. Then go to Forest Botanical Garden of Yuzhou to see rare plants and breathe fresh air. At last, go to Balongzhong where sit tombs of celebrities in Eastern Han Dynasty and Wei Kindom, and tourists can learn about the big family based on inscriptons and imagination. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Wuhan. Day 9: arrive in Wuhan. In Wuhan University, you can see beautiful Luojia Mountain, Sakura Garden, Laozhaishe (Students’ Dormitory) and the old library, and feel the vitality of youth. Cross the headquarters of Wuhan University and arrive at Wushui School District. Outside the Institute of Hydrobiology of Chinese Academy of Sciences is the East Lake. There is a wooden road beside the lake, and you can breathe fresh air while strolling along the road. After lunch, take a taxi at Hubu Lane to Yellow Crane Tower. Climb to the top, recite poems of the Tang Dynasty learnt in childhood, and think about the ancient and modern times. Then take a taxi to Zhonghua Gate and take a ferry across the Yangtze River to Wuhan Pass. Go to Jiqing Street after dark as the nightlife just starts then, and fatigue will disappear even though you just pass there after having a hearty meal or sit by the roadside and listen to some songs. Then take a walk in Hankou Riverside Park; you can wander the street or join in the fun in a bar, to finish this Wuhan trip happily. You can enjoy Wuhan food in the snack street of Hubu Lane for lunch; the street has everything you expect, such as hot-and-dry noodles in Cailinji Restaurant, soup dumplings in Sijimei Restaurant and glutinous rice dumpling in Wufangzhai Restaurant. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Chibi. Day 10: arrive in Chibi. Go to Xuansu Cave, a palace of natural art, to be baptized by the nature. After lunch, visit the scenic area of Ancient Red Cliff Battlefield of the Three Kingdoms which is the most famous about the Battle of Red Cliff where there are lots of attractions such as inscriptions on precipices, Yijiang Pavilion, Statue of Zhou Yu, Wangjiang Pavilion, Exhibition Hall of Battle of Red Cliff, Wind-praying Platform, Red Cliff Stele Corridor and Fengchu Nunnery, to feel the mood of “The Yangtze River flows eastward; all heroes have gone with rolling waves”. In the evening, go to Yueyang by the high-speed rail. Day 11: arrive in Yueyang. In the morning, go to Yueyang Tower. You can appreciate Fan Zhongyan’s poem in it and may have a different feeling. Look into the distance and you will find the boundless Dongting Lake close at hand. There are also some scenic spots around Yueyang Tower that you cannot miss, such as legendary Saint Plum Pavilion, Intoxication Pavilion, the place where Lv Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals, was drunk, and the tomb of a beauty, Xiao Qiao. Such scenic spots are very close to each other and you can walk there. In the afternoon, visit Junshan Island. There are speedboats going to and fro the island, only a round-trip ticket of RMB80 is sold but one-way ticket is not sold. Unique geographical location of Junshan Island is very suitable for enjoying the scenery of Dongting Lake, and you should not miss it. There are also many beautiful love legends on the island, and you can ask some information if interested. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Changsha. Day 12: arrive in Changsha. Go to the quiet campus of Hunan First Normal University, to feel the learning environment of Chairman Mao in those days. After lunch, cross the Xiang River Bridge and go to the west area of Xiang River to visit Yuelu Academy. Climb the Yuelu Mountain and have a cup of tea and have a rest on the top. Have a look at Xiang River flowing eastward and Orange Island Park. Then return to the east area of Xiang River, and relax yourself in a bar at West Jiefang Road. You can also see the fireworks at Orange Island Park if on Saturday. Day 13: take a bus to Tianxin Pavilion. Go into the attic of the pavilion and overlook beautiful scenery of Changsha. Then visit Du Fu Riverside Pavilion built in commemoration of poet Du Fu. Stroll the Pozi Street at noon and taste delicious snacks of Changsha. In the afternoon, go to Martyr’s Park; the first thing is certainly to honor ancestors, and there are also many entertainment projects for you to choose from in the park, and you can have a walk. Then visit Jiayi’s Former Residence which is the “most ancient historic site” in Changsha and an iconic cultural heritage of “hometown of Quyuan and Jiayi”. In the evening, enjoy the dinner in Xiang River Scenery Belt and take a walk beside Xiang River after dinner. Then you can choose a large foot massage center with elegant environment, and relax your tired feet. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Hengshan. Day 14: arrive in Hengshan. In the morning, go to Nanyue Temple first, and take a sightseeing bus to Banshan Pavilion, and choose to take a ropeway or take a bus to Nantianmen. You have to walk the rest of road, and return to Nantianmen after visiting the Zhurong Peak. Then take a bus to Martyrs’ Shrine to worship anti-Japanese soldiers. The whole trip takes about 6 hours. You may see the sea of clouds but can’t see sunrise. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Guangzhou. Day 15: arrive in Guangzhou. In the morning, go to Yuexiu Park first. This park is the largest comprehensive park in Guangzhou and has Five-sheep Stone Sculpture, the representative sculpture of Guangzhou. Then you can have lunch nearby, or have a meal in the afternoon. When it’s almost noon, visit the Chen Clan Academy. As a complete and representative civil building of late Qing Dynasty in Guangdong, it is an ancestral hall building of Qing Dynasty with large scale and splendid decoration. It is not far away from Shameen. There are over 150 buildings of European style on Shameen Island among which there are 42 new Baroque, pseudo-gothic, verandah, neoclassical and combined Chinese and Western buildings with outstanding features. It is a European complex that conveys most exotic style in Guangzhou. Then go to Haizhu Square. Founded in 1953, Haizhu Square is located in the intersection between central axis of Guangzhou old city and Riverside Landscape Belt, and is the only riverside square in Guangzhou. If there is still time and energy, you can walk to Shishi Sacred Heart Cathedral to visit this beautiful building. If you are fond of shopping, you must go to Beijing Road, a place where department stores of Guangzhou converge. After dinner at Beijing Road, go to Tianzi Wharf to have a night tour on Pearl River by boat. “Wasp Waist” and lots of buildings on the bank look exceptionally beautiful in lights at night. In the evening, take high-speed rail bound for Shenzhen. Day 16: arrive in Shenzhen. Visit appearance of Shenzhen along the Shennan Boulevard, and pass representative buildings such as Konka Building, China Merchant Bank Building, Citizen Center, World Trade Plaza, Saige Plaza, Huaqing North Commercial Street, Deng Xiaoping Portrait Square, Shenzhen Grand Theatre, Shenzhen Book City and Shenzhen International Trade Building. Then arrive at Diwang Building, ascend it and enjoy the scenery. Then go to Chung Ying Street, the world’s only “one street, two systems” duty-free commercial street which is exclusive to Shenzhen, and a special management zone on the border. The Pass to Special Management Zone on the Border must be obtained before entering Chung Ying Street. It is called the “special zone in Shenzhen Special Zone”. After lunch, visit the Xiaomeisha Sea World, which is a sea culture theme park with the largest scale, the most pavilions, the richest undersea performance and the strongest property of participation in entertainment. Display subjects are “seven pavilions and two parks” and “fourteen sets of featured programs”. In the evening, take the high-speed rail to Hong Kong. Day 17: arrive in Hong Kong. Go to Disney on the first day in Hong Kong. Day 18: in the morning, go to Ocean Park to visit the largest oceanarium and amusement park of Southeast Asia. Play in the interesting amusement park, and see dolphin show and strange marine fishes. You can have lunch in a restaurant in the theme park, but it’s very expensive. So you can bring some food. It takes a whole to play in the park. You can have dinner in Central or on Victoria Peak. Go to Victoria Peak to see your idol in person after dinner, and overlook the city on the top. Day 19: in the daytime, take a bus or subway to Tsim Sha Tsui for shopping. Harbour City is especially recommended as it is the largest shopping mall in Hong Kong, and owns the world’s second largest LV exclusive shop and dozens of international brand stores. It is big enough for tourists to stroll for a whole day. Parklane Shoppers Boulevard, reputed as “Champs Elysees of Hong Kong”, mainly has specialty stores related to fashion. As the night falls, walk to the Avenue of Stars, to see commemorative plaques of hundreds of film & entertainment workers and night scene of charming Victoria Harbour, and see large light show at 8:00 p.m. which is dazzling and spectacular! You can continue to take a bus or subway to kill time in a bar in Lan Kwai Fong which is a free paradise at night and a noisy and happy world. Then end the pleasant trip along Beijing-HK-Macao High-Speed Rail.
