Trip to Southwest Ethnic Minority Areas
Nanning-Guiyang-Kunming Economy Zone is a transportation hub where Great Pearl River Delta leads to the southwestern part of China, China-ASEAN free trade zone, South Pacific and Indian Ocean, an international trade channel and a frontier market of free trade zone. In terms of geographical relationship, such three regions feature unity of physical geography, correlation of ecological environment and coherence of infrastructure, and need integrated development and construction. In terms of human relationship, such regions feature integration of nationality, proximity of custom and permeability of culture, laying down solid humanistic foundation for integrated development of regions. The three regions have abundant tourism resources, and lots of tourist cities like Nanning, Guiyang and Kunming boast rich folk custom and ecological culture.
Description of the Itinerary
Day 1: start from Nanning. In this region, Green Mount Qingxiu is quite refreshing. You can overlook the downtown of Nanning; go to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum to feel the pulse of development of ancient Nanning; Nanhu Lake Park is intoxicating for its leisure and water views. In the afternoon, visit the Detian Waterfall. As the largest transnational waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest one in the world, the waterfall stretches across two countries - China and Vietnam, flowing with great momentum and falling layer by layer violently, thus producing the sound that can be heard from miles away. Take a train to Guiyang in the evening. Day 2: arrive in Guiyang. Visit Qianling Park, which is reputed as an urban park whose beauty lies beside the city and in the natural style. Visit a famous Buddhist mountain in central Guizhou region - Qianling Mountain. Walk up along Jiuqujing (wild macaques may be seen on the way), and worship Hongfu Temple, a sacred Buddhist land of Guizhou. After lunch, visit Jiaxiu Building, the landmark building of Guiyang, one of “ten famous buildings of China” and a famous scenic spot in Nanguo. Along the Floating Jade Bridge, visit Gongnan Pavilion, Cuiwei Pavilion, Famous Painting Park, Rare Stone Museum, etc. Visit Hongfeng Lake (90 minutes), a plateau pearl of Guizhou by boat, and buildings (such as Wind-Rain Bridge, Wind-Rain Building and stilted building) with characteristics of Dong minority and Miao nationality on the island. Day 3: go to Huaxi District to visit Tianhetan Scenic Area, which is famous for three wonders, namely, mountain, water and cave, and see marvelous karst landscape: visit Wolong Beach Calcified Waterfall, the widest calcified beach in China; cross the Natural Bridge; and then come to water cave and dry cave, the masterpiece of karst landform. After lunch, visit ancient Qingyan Town which is built beside mountains; the long and narrow lane laid with bluestone board conveys great local characteristics. Go to Huaxi Park on the outskirts of Guiyang, to experience rolling mountains and meandering rivers. In the evening, take a train to Kunming. Day 4: arrive in Kunming. In the morning, go to Xishan Mountain by bus, and overlook the Dian Lake on Xishan Mountain. In the afternoon, go to Haigeng Park by ropeway to take a close look at Dian Lake and have intimate contact with black-headed gulls. In the evening, drive to Nanping Street, to stroll around the nearby bird & flower market at Jingxin Street. When the night is about to fall, go to the landmark building of Kunming- Jinma Biji Square. Then go to Qiaoxiangyuan beside to taste authentic Yunnan Crossing the Bridge Noodles. Day 5: in the morning, take a train or a direct line bus to Shilin National Scenic Area, to take a close look at it and appreciate peculiar landform, but do not forget to take photos with many “Aheige” and “Ashima”. Worth visiting small attractions nearby include Naigu Stone Forest, Dadieshui Waterfall and Qifeng Cave. Stay at Shilin at night. Day 6: in the morning, take a bus to Jiuxiang Scenic Area, to visit Jiuxiang Karst Caves which is a good place for photography but remember to dress your photographic equipment with a “raincoat” against dropping water. Take a regular bus back to downtown of Kunming. In the evening, take a train to Xishuangbanna. Day 7: arrive in Xishuangbanna. Take a regular bus in the downtown to Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden, upstream the Lancang River. Pass Ganlanba Market, and you can taste fresh and delicious tropical fruits and see Dai villages. There are a great variety of plants in the garden and many are exclusive to Yunnan. It has many attractions inside, so you are suggested bringing sufficient films. You can also buy some seedlings and seeds of various tropical plants as a souvenir at stalls at the gate. Day 8: rent a car in the downtown and go to Wild Elephant Valley Forest Park. The park has attracted numerous tourists with its unique primitive forest landscape and Asian wild elephants. There are wild animal observation stations, butterfly farms and elephant training performance in the park. Return to Jinghong in the afternoon, and walk to National Customs Garden, to participate in exciting Water-Splashing Festival performance which will be unforgettable. Trip to Nanning, Guizhou and Kunming comes to an end.
