A Tour to Anhui to enjoy a scenery of combined culture and nature
Located among the Yangtze River, Huai River and hundreds of lakes, Anhui Province has been granted the privileged geographical environment conditions in the ancient times, possessing a strategic position combining the east to the west which brings its prosperous economy, developed educations and booming cultures. Crossing over the south-to-north of Yangtze River and Huai River, cultural diversity is demonstrated completely in Anhui Province. Later on, there is a legend about the ancient Yellow Emperor coming here to make the pills of immortality (which is a behavior of Taoism), while the emperor of Tang Dynasty named Tang Xuanzong believed in the Taoism, the name of Yishan then has been replaced by Huangshan since 747 AD. Xu Xiake, the famous traveler and geographer of Ming Dynasty, has climbed the Huangshan for twice, and he sighed: "There are no other mountains in this world which can be compared with Anhui's Huangshan. If you have climbed the Huangshan, you will never want to climb other mountains!” His words have been summarized by the later posterity as “Other mountains are not worth visiting after traveling to the Five Great Mountains. In contrast, the Five Great Mountains are also not worth visiting after traveling to Huangshan”
Description of the Itinerary
Day 1: After breakfast, take the tourist bus in the Huangshan City to get to the Huangshan Scenic Spot reputed as “Other mountains are not worth visiting after traveling to the Five Great Mountains. In contrast, the Five Great Mountains are also not worth visiting after traveling to Huangshan”. In China, there is a recognition of “Three most famous Mountains” and “Five Great Mountains”, and Huangshan ranks one of the “Three most famous Mountains”, gaining a reputation of “the most fantastic mountain under heaven” As a sacred land for Taoism, there are many sites of Taoism here, and there is a legend that the ancient Yellow Emperor has ever come here to make the pills of immortality. Xu Xiake has visited Huangshan for twice, sighing “Other mountains are not worth visiting after traveling to the Five Great Mountains. In contrast, the Five Great Mountains are also not worth visiting after traveling to Huangshan”. The great poet of Li Bai and others have left here many magnificent poems. Huangshan ranks one of the Top 10 famous mountains. As a well-known summer resort, Huangshan is a national scenic spot and summer resort for health recuperation. Huangshan has been listed in Top 10 National Scenic Spots in 1985 and named as the World Natural and Cultural Heritage on December of 1990 by the UNESCO, and it is the second scenic spot which has achieved the names of both Cultural Heritage and Natural Heritage. Well-preserved Eco-system plays as a symbol of China. In the Jade Screen scenic area, you may enjoy the well-known Guest-Greeting Pine and take a view of the Sleeping Buddha and the Jade Screen Peak, which has gained a reputation of ""Jade Screen in the heaven"". Passing through the 100-step Scaling Ladder, Sky Sea, Bright Peak and Flying Stone, you may also catch a sight of the West Sea Scenic Spot, where beautiful landscapes can help you to release from the pressure and fatigue and the clear fresh air will leave you a relaxed and pleasant mind. Huangshan is the highest mountain in the East China, and includes three main peaks of the Lotus Peak, the Heavenly Capital Peak and the Bright Peak. There is a legend that the ancestor of the Chinese nation - Yellow Emperor has ever made pills here and finally became the immortal, and that is why the name of Huangshan has been remained until now. In the afternoon, we may also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Huangshan’s sunset and sunglow. Day 2: We can get up early to enjoy the Huangshan sunrise in the morning and pay a visit to the core scenic site - the North Sea Scenic Spot. Here we may appreciate the sceneries of Lion Peak, the Refreshing Terrace, the Mountain of a Stone Monkey watching Sea, the so-called Sanhuawu and Dream Flower Pen. We may also catch a flash on the Shixin Peak which is famous for those well-known pines such as the ""Black Tiger Pine"", ""Love's Pine"", ""Dragon Claw Pine"" and ""Sea Exploring Pine"". Day 3: Pay a visit to the Qiankou Residential Area, which has gained a reputation of ""Live Works of Folk Arts in the Ming Dynasty"". This journey may leave you an impression of a Huizhou for 500 years ago. There are seven wonders in the Huizhou Culture, including the wood carving, brick carving, inkstone carving, bamboo carving, ink making, tearing and geomancy. The inheritors of these Chinese intangible cultural heritages have demonstrated their skillful techniques. This is the so-called ""Eight wonders of Yangzhou and seven wonders in Huizhou"" We shall take a tour into the outstanding representative Ming residential houses named Ming Garden, visiting the Zixia Villa, including the Yinxiu Bridge, Stone Archway, Shanhua Pavilion, Leshan Hall, Caomen Hall, Fangguantian House, Sijiandi, Wujianhua House, Fangwentai House and Suxuehen House etc. Then we will take the bus back to the Tunxi Downtown，paying a visit to the Song Street——the Tunxi Old Street, which is like a live version of the painting named ""Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival"". To have a look at the trading ports and docks, experiencing the spirit left by the super trading ports of Shanghai-Hangzhou. An architecture professor from the California University of the USA has ever had a tour here, sighing that this old street seems just like the ""ancient Rome in the East"". There's a poem going: ""Penghu is surrounded by three rivers, and with a special Song-style building called Chonglou. Rivers flow along the street and the scene seems like a living version of the painting named ""Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival"". Take the bus to the Waterfront Tourist Area of the Xin’an Jiang, paying a visit to the Century Square, Sightseeing Suspension Bridge, Long Gallery Pavilion, the Screen Wall of Huizhou, the ancient village along the lake, the Returning Sails on Tunpu, the Lakeside Water Control Project and the Inscriptions on Precipices, all of the above can help you gain a clear and impressive understanding of the culture of Huizhou. The pleasant journey will draw to an end after this visit.
