[Zhenbeibu West Film Studio] “A small town in the north of ancient China”- Zhenbeibu West Film Studio is a national 4A level scenic spot, and the shooting site of films “Red Sorghum” and “A Chinese Odyssey”. It is famous for “bringing Chinese films to the world”. [Western Xia Imperial Tombs], also called Western Xia Tombs and Western Xia Emperors’ Tombs, is located at the eastern foot of Helan Mountain in the western suburbs of Yinchuan City. Affected by Buddhist buildings, it perfectly combines Han Dynasty culture, Buddhism culture and Dangxiang culture, to constitute the unique form among tomb buildings. It is reputed as “Mysterious Miracle” and “Oriental Pyramid”. [Shapotou Scenic Spot] Shapotou is called as “City of Sand”. It is one of the most beautiful deserts in the world, and is world-famous for ecological management on desert and tourist attraction. Here there is the largest desert museum in China, and the first desert railway in China. Tourists can enter Tengger Desert to visit desertification control museum, to learn about desertification control project of Zhongwei City. [Gate Tower of Jiayu Pass] is located on the highest Jiayu Mountain in the middle of the narrowest valley of Jiayu Pass. 8 km to the north, it connects Overhanging Great Wall of Black Mountain. 7 km to the south, it connects The First Pier of the Great Wall. It is the master of western end of Great Wall of Ming Dynasty, and was the first pass in regions west of Yellow River in ancient times. [Mogao Grottoes] is a treasure house of culture and art that integrates buildings, painted sculpture and wall painting. The content covers such fields as culture, history, economy, culture, religion and teaching of ancient society. With precious historical, artistic and scientific value, it is the historic treasure of Chinese nation and excellent cultural heritage of mankind. [Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Spots] Together with Mogao Grottoes, they are called “two wonders” connected with the south of Dunhuang City. Crescent Spring is surrounded by Mingsha Mountain, and it is so named because it is shaped like a crescent. It has been world-famous for wonderful landscape of “coexistence of mountains and springs, coexistence of sand and water” since ancient times. It is reputed as “One Wonder North of the Great Wall”. [Qinghai Lake] With vast area, ancient people called it as “West Sea”. It is the largest inland lake in China and the largest salt water lake in China. Qinghai Lake is vast and illusory. It is a huge and precious mirror endowed by the nature to Qinghai Plateau. [Ta’er Monastery] is the birthplace of founder of Gelug and teacher of Panchen and Dalai- Master Tsongkhapa, the center of Buddhism activities in the northwestern regions, and one of six major temples of China. “Butter sculpture, wall painting and barbola” in Ta’er Monastery are called as “Three Wonders in Ta’er Monastery”.
Description of the Itinerary
Day 1: After breakfast, take a bus to [Zhenbeibu West Film Studio]. Then visit [Western Xia Imperial Tombs]. Finish the trip, and take a bus to the “Most Youngest City in China”- Zhongwei City. Day 2: After breakfast, visit [Shapotou Scenic Spot] which is world-famous for Yellow River in desert, miracle of desertification control and bell ringing on sandy slope. Finish the trip, and take a bus to Lanzhou City, the provincial capital of Gansu Province. After dinner, take a train to Jiayu Pass. Day 3: After arriving at Jiayu Pass, have breakfast. Then visit [Gate Tower of Jiayu Pass]. After lunch, take a bus to Dunhuang. You can taste local food in the most famous Shazhou Night Market of Dunhuang. Day 4: After breakfast, go to [Mogao Grottoes]. Then go to [Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Spot], experiencing the magic of nature on Mingsha Mountain. Day 5: Arrive in Lanzhou in the morning. Then take a bus to Qinghai Lake, passing Riyue Mountain on the way. After arrival, visit China’s largest inland salt water lake [Qinghai Lake]. Finish the trip, and return to Xining by bus. Day 6: After breakfast, go to one of six famous temples of Tibetan Buddhism- [Ta’er Monastery].
