The Great Wall at Badaling
Located at North Guangougudao, Jundu Mountain, Yanqing County, Beijing, the Great Wall at Badaling is the best preserved and the most representative sector of the Ming Great Wall. The United Nations officially confirms that it is one of the “World Cultural Heritages” with typically magnificent and precipitous charm. As the shield to Beijing, the Great Wall at Badaling boasts for its steep mountains and military strategic status. Seen from afar, the majestic Great Wall spirals in the dramatic mountains from south to north. The steep cliffs and crags encircling the Great Wall are carved with “Tian Xian” (meaning natural defense), which accurately defined the military status of the work. As the earliest sector open to the public, the Great Wall at Badaling is well acknowledged at home and abroad, hence there is an old saying goes that “He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man”. Up till now, 372 foreign leaders and world famous figures, such as Nixon, Reagan, Thatcher, Gorbachev, Elizabeth and the like have set their foot on the Great Wall at Badaling.
