Jiuzhai Valley Scenic Spot
Located at Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, Jiuzhai Valley covers a territory of 720 km2 of which 600 km2 is the preserved area. In 1992, Jiuzhai Valley was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In December, 1997, Jiuzhai Valley officially joined the network of the World Biosphere Reserve. This park is best known not only as a natural reserve for forest and wildlife, where rare animals such as giant panda, golden monkey and their natural ecological environment are protected, but also a National Key Scenic Spot for alpine lakes, waterfalls and travertine streams. Jiuzhai Valley is renowned for its fabled blue and green lakes, spectacular waterfalls, narrow conic karst land forms, colorful forest, snowy peaks, blue ice and unique Tibetan folk customs; therefore, it is hailed as “the Land of Fairy Tales” and “the King of Waterscape”.
