The Ming Tombs
The Ming Tombs are a tomb group of the Ming Emperors. It is located at Tianshou Mountain at the foot of Yanshan Mountains, some 50 kilometers from Changping District, Beijing. Since 1409, this place was selected as Changling Mausoleum, and till Emperor Chongzhen was buried in Siling, 13 emperial tombs, 7 concubine tombs and a eunuch tomb were set here within the following over 230 years, All of the tombs were built along the mountains, situated at the foot of the mountains in the east, west and north respectively, which were considered as a systematic, spectacular and magnificent tomb group. The wizards in Ming Dynasty sware that this was such an incomparably propitious resting place. Therefore, it was selected as their tomb site in the hope of an everlasting bless by the God.
