Qufu Ming Old City tourist area
The Qufu Ming Old City (Confucian Temple, Confucius Family Mansion and Temple of Yan Hui) was established in Ming Dynasty (1368 A.D.-1644 A.D.) in the purpose of protecting the Confucian Temple. And in the Ming Old City stand the Confucian Temple, Confucius Family Mansion, Temple of Yan Hui as well as the Confucius mansions of successive dynasties, Temporary Imperial Palace of Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799) by Gupan Pool, which shows the time-honored charm and propound cultural deposits of Qufu historically as the capital of Lu (state). At the end of the 1970s, most of the wall of Qufu Ming Old City was removed. Introduction to the Confucian Family Mansion Scenic Spot in Qufu Ming Old City The Confusion Family Mansion, originally named as Duke Yansheng’s Mansion, is located at the east side of the Confucian Temple in Qufu, and it is where the grandson of lineal descent of Confucius lived. Duke Yansheng is the title granted by Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty (1010-1063) to Kong Zongyuan, the 46th grandson of Confucius in the second year of Zhihe (1055 A.D.) (“Zhihe”, title of Emperor Renzong’s reign, from March 1054 A.D. to September 1056 A.D.); and this title was inherited by 32 generations of Confucius’ descendants for 880 years.
